Gender-inclusive Language: New Guidelines at UBT
Gender Equality, 13 April 2020
On March 3, 2020, the University of Bayreuth published new recommendations for a gender-inclusive language.
The new "Language Guide for the University of Bayreuth" takes the diversity of gender identities more comprehensively into account than its previous version from 2013. From now on, gender stars (e.g. Professor*in) and underscores (Mitarbeiter_innen) may be used in official university communication.
"A gender- and diversity-appropriate language practice and the appeal for an appreciative language are measures to realize equal opportunities and to promote diverse life realities at our university", as the Equal Opportunities Department points out.
You can find the new language guide for the University of Bayreuth on the website of the Women's Representative.
